Cisco Network Engineer – Chicago, Illinois 60606
Summary: Our client provides high-performance electronic trading and exchange systems, comprehensive risk management tools and connectivity to the global markets. As a key member, you will be part of a global infrastructure team with responsibilities for administration of corporate and product infrastructures globally, including supporting our LAN & WAN networks, providing datacenter engineering services and hardware administration, office telephony & desktop technology administration, and server operating system and SAN administration.
The primary responsibilities for this position are; to provide administration to our Cisco & Checkpoint-based networks, provide datacenter engineering and server hardware support, and administration of office-based technology.
Technical Skills Needed:
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with administering Cisco Access routers and Catalyst switches.
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience supporting HP-brand hardware, in particular DL server line. ( Will flex on this )
• Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with administering Checkpoint firewalls.
• Candidate must have hands-on experience with the following tasks from the command line interface or primary configuration utility (demonstration of abilities may be part of the interview process); enabling switch ports and assigning ports to vlans, configuring static routes, configuring dynamic routing protocols, configuring Checkpoint and/or ASA for office environment, creating IPSEC VPN tunnels on both Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls.
• Minimum 2 years experience configuring and support WAN circuits and vendors.
• Minimum 2 years experience working within a Microsoft Windows network environment and have a solid understanding of Active Directory.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience with the following hardware & software; Red Hat Linux, Oracle, Blue Coat packet shapers, and HP MSA/EVA SAN’s.
Requirements:
• Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
• It will be required for this position to occasionally report to work at our offices and/or datacenters internationally for up to 2 weeks at a time.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for operational support purposes outside of normal business hours, including weekends.
• To participate in regularly scheduled change management windows which require implementation outside of normal business and/or market hours, including nights and weekends.
• To carry a company-provided PDA and be available via phone/email/txt for the purpose of providing technical support and coordinating maintenance activities outside of normal business hours
• Must have good verbal and written English communication skills
• Preference will be given to candidates with an IT career focus in financial services.
• Must be comfortable working in a multi-cultural and environment across multiple countries and time zones. Previous experience at multi-national employer a plus.
